Depth, not dopamine
If you’d rather listen than read, you can sit with the audio version of this here.
Information vs Integration — not the same thing.
I have spent a long time gathering insights for my business. I have signed up for bundles, taken courses, and even joined one “mastermind” that promised results but delivered not-that.
It turns out, I was looking for information to help me fill the perceived gaps, and it doesn’t work because I was operating from a mindset of scarcity. “I don’t have enough information” or “I don’t know what I’m doing” were the mantras running in the background, in my awareness but largely ignored. Yup, we are good at deceiving ourselves!
This year, I decided that I already know what I want and it’s time to honour that. So instead of information, I was intentionally seeking spaces of orientation, integration and implementation of I already know.
So, I said yes to the following five yearlongs:
Author’s Collaborative – where I’m strategically writing and publishing my book
The Council – for deep support with content strategy and messaging
The Hive – to rebuild the foundations of my business with intention
Raise the Bar – to make clearer, smarter decisions around email and delivery
The Press Club - to shape a visibility blueprint that actually fits me
I was clear: I want support through implementation.
But there’s a caveat, because I don’t want the kind of support where they tell me how to run my business their way, I want support where they help me run my business, my way. And I don’t want the dopamine hits through impulse buys, either.
I wanted spaces where I could viscerally feel how much these people want me to succeed. They love what they do and it shows.
This is a sigh of relief …
To be met where I am and invited to level up from that place, not from where they think I should be, makes a HUGE difference!
It’s interesting because I didn’t go out looking for yearlongs, it just so happened that all the support I said yes to this year came with that long-term commitment. Whether it’s small group coaching or consistent email guidance, every one of them gave me the same gift: space to grow without urgency.
So if you’re reading this and feeling like you’re constantly trying to “figure it out” through courses, self-help books, or Chat GBT therapy, I leave you with this:
Your evolution needs space. Without space, we just repeat the same patterns but now with more information. Your evolution needs time. Without time, the pressure to perform is always “on” — feeling like you’re lagging behind while simultaneously having no forward momentum.
But what if you are exactly where you’re supposed to be for the next layer of your evolution? What if where you are is the platform required for you to build what’s next? What if you trusted where you are, instead of fighting it?
Evolution by intention is a process, not a one-and-done. You don’t ever get “it” done, because it’s a way of life. Meaning, you are either evolving by intention, or you are living status-quo.
And how you know where you’re living is the quality of your life.
This is why I created a space that honors growth as a process — how insight becomes something you can live, over time.
