Why the life you want feels out of reach
Every problem you’re dealing with right now stems from one thing: Your belief system is too damn small for the life you actually want.
Perhaps, you don’t know what life you want, you just know that you don’t have it.
So you feel stuck, uncertain, and unable to make choices that propel you forward.
Perhaps you’re in a job you hate but you’re too afraid to leave because you need the paycheque. Perhaps you’re in a marriage you don’t like but you stay because leaving seems harder than staying. Perhaps you’re clear about your vision of the future but between ‘here’ and ‘there’ lives a series of choices that feel too scary to make.
I remember feeling that way most of the time, most of my life. What I’ve come to discover in the last decade is that, quite literally, my reality is shaped by my beliefs about myself, my world, and life. It is created by the values I subscribe to, consciously or otherwise. It is pixelated by the attitudes I embody.
That’s how I went from “addict” to aligned. From IBS to clarity. From people-pleaser to boundaried.
Change your mind, change your choices, change the quality of your life. In scientific terms, we call this neuroplasticity; in culture, we call it “what fires together, wires together”.
But the point remains: reality is created by our perception of the world. Therefore, reality is malleable and dynamic.
Now, every time I say this I hear a nagging voice that says there exists a reality, ya’ know. I agree with that – there exists an objective reality. However, you and I can only access reality to the extent that our perceptual filters allow.
This is not fun to face, but it’s true: you don’t see what’s objectively there, you see what your subjective perceptual filters allow you to.
This is why it's so easy, for example, for a mother to feel confident co-sleeping with her baby, while another mother sees the same practice as dangerous. Same behavior, different perceptual filters about what good parenting looks like. Context changes our perception of reality.
If you let yourself relax into this truth – it is quite simple, really.
This blog was inspired by a quote in Pure Human by Gregg Braden: “Discovering our ability to shift our beliefs is where we find our greatest mastery in life.” This is pure truth. When we learn how to master this ability, we master our lives.
This does not mean that our life is always peachy – it means that we become resourceful and resilient in the face of whatever life brings our way.
A quality life doesn't happen by accident – you create it. First by questioning the beliefs you inherited, then by building something new through choices that actually align with who you are.
And to live like that, you need a framework for HOW TO live authentically. That’s what our unique process is all about. Because before you discover how to live an aligned and authentic life, you first have to discover and integrate what gets in the way.
If you’re curious about how this shows up in your own life, reply and tell me where you feel stuck right now. I’ll guide you based on where you are.
P.S. The most liberating thing in the noise of the world of healing is to know who you are, so you cannot be sold a “better” version of yourself.
If you are tired of the noise of the hype, I created The Truth or Trauma quiz to help you discover what gets in the way of you grounding yourself in your truth. It’s free, it’s fast, and it’s a tool for clarity, not a catch all problem-solver. But it will help you better understand yourself, your actions, and why you do the things you do even when you don’t want to.
