To Reclaim Your Power: Create!

Everything we bring into our awareness is information; in that, it is intelligent. It is in front of us so we can notice how we are living. More accurately, it is here so we notice the process we are living from: habitually or consciously?

Today I faced a great letdown. For all intents and purposes, I was ready. Message on my sticky notes. Gorgeous green dress on. Lights, camera, Zoom connection all in check. I even lit my beeswax candle. I was prepared to have a meaningful conversation on a podcast, and guess what happened? The host simply didn’t show. I emailed, twice, and no response. By the time 20 minutes passed, I chose to let go.

I felt disappointed and let down. I had an expectation of an outcome, but instead I was left stranded. The ice of my drink melted, drink untouched.

I messaged Louise LeBrun and her response was this: “unmet expectation as a provocation… and invitation … to create differently.” Mic drop moment.

Just because my creativity was not used in the way I had expected, it does not mean that it went away. I could then meet it the habituated way: throw a temper tantrum, outraged at their audacity, hurt as if he’s doing this to me. Since a social script has been violated, most people would position themselves as having been done wrong, in some way.

I’m not suggesting that what happened was ‘right’, I am suggesting that I am not a victim to it. I created that scenario and the power of engaging is in the process I choose.

Given this was a trigger, I intentionally chose Quantum TLC™ (because the alternative is what? Righteous indignation. #NoThanks). I let go of the expectation of the outcome. I let go of the desire to have it be other than what it is. I simply let go.

Instead, I invite and allow what is showing up in my body to move. I will not abandon myself. I will not capitulate to the familiar habit. I will not give up on my intention. I simply might choose to engage it differently.

You cannot have my peace.

So what do I need to do to reclaim my power? I need to create. So I write. And I keep letting go… I keep breathing intentionally for the information to flow, not stagnate. In that, I know I free myself from the illusion that I am owed anything other than what I have created.

The question for me becomes: how BIG is my intention? Will I abandon it because I'm feeling 'disappointed'? What is disappointment, anyway, if not information in flow?

I choose to not capitulate to the habits. I choose to stay Present, fully immersed in the truth of my experience. I choose to engage my body and the moment I am in. I choose to let the information flow. I choose to BE here, fully.

The inquiry is simple: How do you actually choose? Where are you moving from habit, and where are you ready to choose differently? If you want to see your own invisible process, join us for five days of writing for self-discovery.
