Thinking About… choosing from fear

Posted by on June 15, 2011 at 9:44 am

Over my years of working with others, I’ve discovered that many choose to engage interventions (practices, procedures, surgeries, religions, world views, etc.), not because they hold intrinsic value but more as insurance ‘just in case’ it works. They are afraid that if they don’t participate, they might deprive themselves of something beneficial and will regret not having done so.

They seem not to notice that each choice has impact; and is not without consequences. What is overlooked is that this very choice is bringing into their lives more of what they do not want, as it floods their body, mind and spirit with the natural byproducts of itself. In those moments, the wiser choice may well be to do nothing and allow ourselves to be. Spontaneous remission does not follow the recipes that we know.
