To change our language from ‘counselling/therapy’ to ‘coaching’ is not enough to make the difference that so many of us desperately seek. Finding Ourselves in the Dark

It is not easy to let go of our need to have what ‘ was ‘ continue to be the way it ‘ is ‘. All that we’ve clung to for so long begins to fade into the background. As we let go, those movements and sounds so foreign to all that we hold as ‘real’ and ‘true’ and ‘right’, begin to increase in intensity and flow. Body, mind and spirit separate and become like the thick ropes of hair loosed from a French braid, resting in the palm of our hand… waiting… for us, once again, to weave them into new expressions and new dimensions that offer new meaning to who we might become.

It is so easy for the sounds outside of us to drown out the sounds of us, inside of us. From the taking of our first breath, we are taught to focus our attention outside of us – on the voices of others who we trust to keep us safe and keep us on the ‘right’ path – leading us all to become experts at living lives that are externally referenced. For some, that small voice inside continues to haunt us. For others, we believe that it has long disappeared. And yet, what might our lives be like if we were to choose to become internally referenced; drawn to seek out the sounds inside of us, that those might better influence the design of our lives.

Much in our world is changing – and fast! Gaia’s activity – evidenced by earthquakes and tsunamis, wildfires, flooding, punishing rains, mudslides, etc. – is occurring with an intensity and at a rate difficult to ignore. In the face of such challenges, how can we see potential and possibility when so many seem to see only destruction and gloom? It is in these moments that we are called to discover the ‘more’ that each of us carries and can connect with in a single breath. Take time for that breath and allow yourself to consider: what moves in you when you consider the times to come?
