Rising) is quite inspirational and a wonderful
idea to help women find out who they really are. I have been living
a life similar to these women (no surprise) and am so ready to change.
Where do I go from here? "
" My friend told me she had written a story in a book and when it was published I bought a copy of it. Reading the stories of these wonderful and powerful women was an inspiration to me. They showed me the magnificence which we all hold inside of ourselves. In saying this, your story, Gwen, was the one that most hit home with me and from the moment that I started reading it I felt the energy flowing through me. I couldn't seem to stop crying. When you wrote the part about your stepdaughter and the rage that you felt at what you now know to be a very insignificant incident it made me look at my own relationship with my own children and how I feel like a volcano most of the time. The question I now need to answer is "How do I release this anger to find the humor in life before I destroy my own children's sense of innocence?"
I wanted to thank you for opening this question up to me and making me be accountable for myself. I also wanted to thank you for co-founding the WEL-Systems Program because without this I would not be able to ask myself these questions and figure out the answers."

Wow! It was more enlightening then intense, more inspirational then shocking! I really liked it. One cannot be unmoved after reading your story. Reading just re-energized the battery in my back for my own quest. I have to thank you for that.

I found your chapter very well written, interesting and at times relatable, although in a different way. It is so amazing how one parent’s ways can bring such negative feelings to their child’s life, affecting them throughout their childhood into adulthood. As I read your words my heart wanted to reach out to the hurt child, to cuddle and protect you. I was able with your words to feel your pain, and your indecisions in life with your choices. As your story found its way to healing I was applauding your maturity, your strength and your ultimate choices to grow in the face of the pain.

I read Sekhmet Rising in one sitting, I didn't want to- it sort of crept up on me and I couldn't put it down....amazing - captivating- like watching a train wreck that didn't happen. Instead, Superwoman showed up every time and saved the free world. You have much to be immensely proud of. " My soon to be daughter-in-law asked me for a book this week. She is new in my life and...I had made up a story that she might not resonate with the book due to her academic background. As soon as she heard about it, she drove for an hour to get her copy. Even before reading the book she began to share her feelings of insecurity and her desire to change that in her life. She is 23 years old. I know this book will change her life.
A woman...who has been estranged from me (for many years) came for dinner at our restaurant with her grandchildren. This is the first time that she has been here (more than 5 years) other than one brief visit which was full of tension. As soon as I saw her I knew I needed to give her the book. When I handed her the book she started to cry. She is 80 years olds.
Neither of these women have read the book yet but they knew that something profound was between the covers. "
